Camp Lawton has been in the news. Even the national news!
Always great to see archaeological topics get extensive coverage!
Camp Lawton is a 42-acre Civil War prisoner of war camp that was established in 1864. The majority of Camp Lawtons stockade and Fort Lawton earthworks are on the grounds of Magnolia Springs State Park north of Millen. Recent investigations have discovered the exact location of the Camp.
