News flash from the Georgia Department of Archives and History

It has come to our attention that throughout research constituencies and communities in Georgia and beyond, many people have not yet heard that the Georgia Archives, now a unit of the University System of Georgia, now has expanded days and hours of public access, as well as some restoration of staff positions.

The Georgia Archives is now open to the public for research, every week, Wednesday through Saturday, from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM, except holidays. Two additional reference archivists and a conservator have been hired since July 1, 2013.

Please help to spread the word by printing and posting this flyer at your location, and/or by emailing it to your membership or users, or by including it in your membership newsletter or some other organizational mailing. Access a copy by clicking here.

Please feel free to share this flyer as broadly as you have relevant contacts. We need to spread the word, as comprehensively as possible, that the Georgia Archives is now reopened 4 full days each week and wants (and needs) to see researchers return.

If you are affiliated with an organization, institution, or class which might want to combine a group research visit with a tour of the facility, please contact Christopher Davidson, Director, Georgia Archives, 678-364-3806, or .

Thank you for your interest and assistance.

Respectfully, Glenda
