Mark your calendar: the SGA Spring Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015. The meeting will be concurrent with the Fort Daniel Foundation’s 7th Annual Frontier Faire being held all day Saturday. For the Fall Meeting, SGA members will first meet at the nearby Fort Daniel Elementary School for a series of presentations and then join the festivities at the Frontier Faire for afternoon fun! Archaeology, food, live music, and Abby the ArchaeoBus will be there!
Registration for the Fall SGA meeting will begin at 8:30 AM at the Fort Daniel Elementary School in Gwinnett County. The morning meeting will be held at the school and will include a short session of presentations (please see our call for papers) to be followed by the business meeting. See the map below for the school’s location and address:
After the morning meeting at the school is adjourned, everyone is invited to spend the afternoon at the Fort Daniel Frontier Faire, held at the Fort Daniel Archaeological Site around the corner from the school. They’ll have food, live music, and community archaeology to enjoy. More information about the Faire can be found on the Fort Daniel Foundation website by clicking here. The location is on the map below:
The site above is also where The SGA Board of Directors will meet the day before the meeting on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 12:00-3:00 p.m., followed by the GCPA Board of Directors from 4:00-5:00 p.m., and the GCPA General Membership from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the field house basement.
For those coming from out of town, nearby hotels are available in Buford near the Mall of Georgia at varying rates:
A complete meeting schedule will be posted when it becomes available. A modest registration fee will be charged for the SGA meeting, and those that attend the Frontier Faire in the afternoon will pay admission to the Fort Daniel Foundation for all the food, music, and fun that will be provided!
Stay tuned for additional details, and we look forward to seeing you there!
