The SGA Spring Meeting will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 20-21, 2016 in St. Marys & Cumberland Island as part of 2016 Archaeology Month celebrating – Dynamic Borders: The Archaeology of Cumberland Island.

The events planned for Friday in St. Marys, Georgia and the excursion to Cumberland Island the following day are below.
Friday, May 20th
Check in (1-4 pm): Come to the St. Marys Visitors Center located at 400 Osborne St, St Marys, GA 31558 to pick up information packets at the registration table.
- Enjoy historic St. Marys by following the self-guided, interpretive trail detailing the history of this enchanting coastal town
- Visit the impressive Orange Hall (admission included with registration), and learn about archaeological investigations at this early 19th century mansion.
- Visit the Cumberland Island National Seashore Museum and discover the area’s War of 1812 history through the Point Peter exhibit
- And, visit local shops and galleries.
Evening banquet (6:30-9:00 pm): An evening banquet with key-note speaker Meredith Hardy, an archaeologist with the National Park Service, Southeastern Archeological Center will be held at the Cumberland Inn and Suites Banquet Room at 6:30 p.m. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be followed by a catered dinner and will include a talk focusing on archaeological excavations on Cumberland Island.
Saturday, May 21st
Join us for an all day excursion to Cumberland Island from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Enjoy the exclusive round trip ride to Cumberland Island – look for dolphins, water birds, and other wildlife. Disembark for morning and afternoon guided tours of Dungeness Ruins, Plum Orchard, and shoreline sites, and a box lunch picnic.
