The next Ocmulgee Archaeological Society (OAS) meeting will be September 10th at 6:30 pm in Room 202 of the Science and Engineering Building located at 1550 College Street on the Macon campus of Mercer University. For directions to our meeting location check out the map located on our website at http:oasgroup.wix.com/archaeology but again note that we are in room 202 rather than the room number shown on the map.
This month we are happy to have as our speaker, archaeologist Gretchen Eggiman. The title of her presentation is “Reviving the Vining Revival: Results from the Data: Recoveries of Two Vining Phase Sites in Baldwin County Georgia”. This should be a very informative talk on a Georgia Native American culture that has not been totally investigated in the past.
Gretchen completed her B.A at the State University of New York at Potsdam and her M.A at the University of Georgia. She is a Staff Archaeologist and Principal Investigator at Southern Research, Historic Preservation Consultants, Inc. based out of Waverly Hall, Georgia and has been in the CRM industry for over 15 years with extensive experience across the eastern United States. Let’s welcome her with a big turnout to hear about this important research.
