Jekyll Island and the telephone
Submitted by Sammy Smith (sammy@thesga.org) An important event in the history of the telephone happened on Jekyll Island. If you wander around the historic area south of the Jekyll Island Clubhouse, now the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, you will find a plexiglass box encompassing an old telephone.

I love to park next to the blockhouse replica at Fort Hawkins! It is so historic (and it doesn’t hurt that it makes my multiple tonnage feel petite!) In May, I returned to one of my regular haunts, Fort Hawkins in Macon.
