It is a pleasure to announce that the GAAS speaker at our next meeting (Tuesday, November 13th, 6:30PM) will be Tommy Hudson. Mr. Hudson has been a member of the Greater Atlanta Archaeological Society, a Chapter of the Society for Georgia Archaeology, in past years and has made important contributions to Georgia archaeology. His talk is titled Some Observations on Prehistoric Stone Structures in Georgia.

For more than 40 years, Mr. Hudson has been researching and recording petroglyphs (rock art) and petroforms (rock man-made constructions) in Georgia. During this time, he has compiled a list of more than 120 petroglyphs and more than 130 petroforms in the northern half of Georgia and knows about, but has yet to find, dozens more! Although the proximity and chronology of petroglyphs and petroforms are difficult to separate, at the November meeting, Tommy will focus on some of the similarities and distinct characteristics of the prehistoric stone constructions in North Georgia.

This presentation will be at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History on Clifton Road, just north of Ponce de Leon. The meeting is free and open to the public.
