The SGA Spring Meeting will be held on May 18 (Friday) and May 19 (Saturday), 2018, in Milledgeville, GA. We have planned an exciting schedule and registration is now open online at https://squareup.com/store/the-society-for-georgia-archaeology. Friday evening we will enjoy a lecture from keynote speaker Dr. Bob Wilson. Dr. Wilson is a historian and professor emeritus at Georgia College and noted authority on the early history of Georgia. We will have the latest issue of Early Georgia available for pickup at the meeting for 2017 members.

Saturday we have a day of activities in the Historic District of Milledgeville. We will begin at 10 am, where we will meet at the Governor’s Mansion for a tour of the Mansion and grounds. Guides will take us through the building and SGA member Dean Wood will give us a tour of the grounds and tell us about the archaeology of the site. Next, we will take a walking tour of historic downtown Milledgeville where we will tour the Old Capitol, Memory Hill Cemetery, and St. Stephens Episcopal Church. Tour guides will take us past many other historic sites where we will learn about the early history of Georgia and Milledgeville while it was the state’s capital. Midway through the walking tour we will have lunch in the activity room of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. For lunch we will have an assortment of Subway sandwiches, potato chips, and bottled water. Following the walking tour of the Historic District, we will take a short drive to Andalusia, the home of Flannery O’Connor. Andalusia is currently closed for renovations, but we have arranged for a guided tour for SGA members. We should be done with our activities in the late afternoon on Saturday.

Online registration is now open at: https://squareup.com/store/the-society-for-georgia-archaeology. Open the link and scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find two options.
